Alan Heyman, CEO
More than 25 years in the data communication world, having started one of the first Internet based Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) companies in the late 80’s. Mr. Heyman is a recognized expert in many phases of Social Media policies, as well as procedures, Privacy matters, and Cybersecurity compliance. The SMLR Group is a full service cyber security/risk assessment-consulting firm, specializing in: Privacy Audits, Standardized Vendor Compliance Audits (SVCA), Privacy Policies, Written Information Security Plans, Pre and Post Data Breach Response, and Data Breach Consultation. The company’s focus is a holistic approach to your privacy and cybersecurity needs encompassing legal, IT Engineering, HR, Cybersecurity Software, and CyberInsurance consulting.

Mr. Heyman, and his group have developed over the years a singular expertise in compliance with the latest state and federal cybersecurity, and digital privacy laws. Alan, a lecturer and columnist, is fully certified by the IBM Internet Security Solution’s Group in all phases of IT and Cyber Security. Alan has spoken at more the 57 Cyber Security and Social Media seminars over the last few years and has written extensively about the field. Mr. Heyman is a graduate of the City College of NY with a BA and the NYU Graduate School of Business with an MBA.

Patrick Fitzgerald, Director of Operations & Marketing
With more than 20 years in the interactive & digital media field. Started at a small town newspaper doing color correction and digital illustration, moving on and honing his creative and technical skills with webcasting live streamed events from trade shows, meetings, and seminars, as well as creating interactive presentations and integrating video, audio, and motion graphics into live and archived content. Always the company ‘go-to-guy’ for technical issues, he expanded his already extensive knowledge base with forays into network support, database management, and coding various languages.
In 2005 he moved into the director side of the field as the Manager, Interactive Media of Sun & Moon Marketing. This opened the doors into various roles ranging from video editing, to motion graphics, and interactive media development with companies ranging from the small business (MediaMorphosis) to the fortune 50 (GE, IBM, and Pfizer).
In 2010 he took on the role of Producer/Multimedia with Bramson Productions. This combined the familiar hat of interactive media production with large-scale project management. He traveled the world producing, directing, and managing meetings and seminars for pharmaceuticals like Merck.
Finally, settling down at home in late 2012 he joined The SMLR Group in putting together the core team. As such he functions as the director of all things technical and creative, managing the staff responsible for 24/7 stealth monitoring and the staff putting together web sites, social media campaigns, mail invites, and interactive content for presentations and online delivery.
Patrick is a 1989 graduate of SUNY Potsdam with a BFA in painting and studio art.
Richard Freiberg, Director, Business Development
Richard Freiberg is Director of Business Development for the SMLR Group. A CPA by training with 40 years of experience with middle market clients, he specializes in building and nurturing client relationships and securing loyalty in a competitive environment by utilizing a consultative selling approach. His influential communication skills afford an ability to recognize new opportunities by aligning with key decision makers.
Richard is knowledgeable on challenges businesses face in terms of risk management, business expansion and transition, sales growth strategies, employee attraction and retention, and differentiation in the marketplace.
In his words, “It’s survival of the fittest. Those who can differentiate themselves and avoid commoditization have the ability to prosper; those who don’t will fail. It’s a different business model leveraging ideas, creativity, collaboration, and technology.
Many organizations have released reports about what successful firms of the next 10 years will look like. They share Richard’s philosophy on collaboration, leverage, and change in business philosophy. Those select few that can see and capitalize on that will prosper; those that can’t will fail.
Richard is a graduate of Pace University in 1977 with a BBA in public accountancy. He has authored numerous articles on successful business practices and sales skills. His responsibilities with SMLR Group are in sales development and strategic areas.
Roy Hogsed, EVP Sales
With over 30 years in the world of technology Roy Hogsed has gained a reputation as a distinguished executive-level leader with deep success building several nationally recognized and profitable software application companies ranging from Managed File Transfer Systems to Cyber Security. Leveraging top-caliber sales teams, penetrating new markets, and partnering with multimillion dollar channel partners he has learned that empowering not only your sales force but your entire staff with the information and tools necessary to make better strategic marketing decisions is very likely to improve your company’s competitive advantage and profitability. He contributes his success to Great mentors who have guided him on his path through insightful tactical planning, proven go-to sales strategies, risk oriented teams and an insider view of client development and education.
Backed by a solid track record in; software sales, marketing (including extensive Internet Marketing), product development, Fortune 1000 client relationship development, and C-Level management he brings a honed ability to drive major initiatives by formulating strategic plans, structuring operations, and executing win-win scenarios. Throughout his career he has directed daily, skill enhancing activities for up to 450 employees and managed budgets in excess of $55M producing gained revenues just under $1B in 15 contiguous years.
Seth Johnson, VP Creative
With more than 20 years of agency experience working on a range of projects from frequent flyers to floor wax, Seth is a highly creative and multi-talented graphic designer, art director with extensive experience creating eye catching direct response material of all shapes and sizes for sales collateral, general advertising, and web based communications for corporate, institutional, travel and healthcare organizations.
Starting at WNEV-TV 7 as a graphic designer opened the door into various roles ranging from on-news graphics to designing all in-house materials from Logos to all sales and marketing materials. After a two year stint he headed for the hills of New Hampshire where he took a job with a Graphic Design Studio in Keene as a studio manager/designer. While there Seth worked on a variety projects that ranged from Catalogues and Annual Reports to Media kits and direct mail campaigns.
In 2000 he moved back to his native Connecticut where he worked as an Assistant Art Director and then Art Director with Saugatuck Direct / Clarion Marketing (DMB&B) working with a range of clients like Mass Mutual, Becton Dickinson, Cigna, Ski New England and Brown & Williamson. His responsibilities encompassed all facets of the design process from concept to printed piece. The high point of this was the conception, design and implementation of the first ever Executive Club Frequent Flyer Traveller Program for British Airways where he earned the coveted MAX Award given for excellence in Direct Marketing.
In 2007 Seth left Clarion and Join a marketing company in Westport, CT., Graygraham. At Graygraham Seth was promoted to Senior Art Director then to Creative Director in 2009.
